Say Hello to The Hidden Happiness
Happiness! What is it? Anyone can give a variety of answers. Because the way they feel happiness is different from each other. And it doesn't matter. Though, Most of us bound our happiness with materialistic objects of the world. For instance, we think "In order to be happy, i need to have a good phone; a good car; a good house...". So yeah! that argument is valid. I totally agree with that. Any individual can be happy by having those stuff. But the problem is the duration of that happiness.
Imagine if you brought a new flagship smartphone. Now you set up it for you and install your favourite apps and games. So you do enjoy using it whole day. You take care of it as a newborn baby. Others may say, "wow! you have a great phone". So, you don't even want to eat because you have a good phone. You are so happy. You take mirror selfies & post on social media to show your phone brand, prestige and social status. One week later, you use it as normal. you don't clean it. You don't look at it whole day. You just use it. One month later, you don't charge it properly at least. You throw it to your bed like a piece of rock. Alright! are you happy with it now? Like the first day? No, because now it's normal to you. You realise, you just have a phone like others. Now you see most of your friends have super cars but you don't. Now you want a Lambo. So you buy it. In the first day, you drive it everywhere. you try your best to show others that you have a Lambo. With the time, same thing will happen to the car. The happiness which gain from it is rapidly decreasing. See, now you have a good car and a good phone. But you are not happy with them. Suddenly, you met with an accident. Your car is wrecked. Your phone is lost. You are injured. How do you feel now? What happened to that happiness? You're in pain. You're worrying about the things you lost. You feel guilty? Are you the unluckiest person? Why these all happened to you? Because, you attached with materialistic objects in the world. You kept all your happiness on them. Now you know that the attachment of physical things won't give you an everlasting happiness.
Lord Buddha once said, "Happiness is a choice, not a result.. Nothing will make you happy, until you choose to be happy.. Your happiness will not come to you. It can only come for you". So, undoubtedly, everyone's choice is to be happy as much as they can. In the society, there's popular misconception that if someone wants to live happily, He should quit everything and live like a beggar. But non-attachment on worldly possessions doesn't mean that you not use anything at all. You can use everything but should not attach with it mentally. However, is there any way to be happy without attach on things in the external world? I would say yes to that. You can start living a minimalist lifestyle. Because it is mostly based on experiences rather than worldly possessions. By living this lifestyle, you will be aware of necessities of your life. And everything is under your control. You can buy experiences rather than buy physical things. Do you remember the best trip you've ever gone? Aren't you happy with those gracious unforgettable moments? Now, you may notice that the happiness you gained with those experiences is still not vanished. You can be happy with them even today. So, take your decision! Dive deep in the ocean of everlasting happiness.
So now, let's talk about some things which can make you unhappy. The first thing that makes you unhappy is your past mistakes. If you did something wrong or something bad happened to you, you may start worrying about them. That worrisome will make you unhappy and unhealthy. But if you be clever enough to be positive under those miseries, you can be happy. But how? Simply, take the thing you did wrong as an experience. Now you know where's wrong. So it would be a great assistance to walk the road of success. You don't need to be worry now, because you learned something from it. If something bad happened to you, just consider it as a karma. It is so common for every individual. So, live in the present. Learn from the mistakes. Future will be adjusted spontaneously.
The second thing that makes you unhappy is expectation. If you love someone, you expect that he or she will love you back. If he or she doesn't love you back, you will be sad. This is an attachment with a thing of external world as i said earlier. So, don't attach. If you want to love someone, just love without any attachment and don't expect love from him or her. The pure love is devoid from any attachment, ownership and ego.
The third thing that makes you unhappy is accepting other's rubbish. In your life, at least once, you may experienced others talking shit about you. And then you may worried because of it. Although, have you ever thought why they do such thing? Because they are jealous. So, that means they think that you are better than them in certain area. So, why do you be worry? If that thing make them happy, let them do. They already gave a value for you. So now you know that it is fruitless to be worry about such stuff. All you have to do is shut up, listen and ignore because you are the title of their fun. Don't ruin it. Haha..
Finally, I would say, everyone deserves happiness and everyone wants to be happy. But the way they seek happiness is not worthy. We should not attach with worldly possessions. As Lord Buddha say, "Everything is impermanent". So if we hold physical things on mind, our happiness can be easily evaporated. Try to live a minimalist lifestyle. Buy stuff but don't attach. Understand your necessities. Use your money to buy experiences, not materialistic things. Try to think positive in any situation. So, say hello to the hidden happiness!
